The StrataSailor

TheStrataSailor Take your pick: A boatload of fliers or completely outfitted scuba divers. There is plenty of seating, storage and fuel to have fun all day long. Our specially designed Deep V hull has been engineered with large strakes for quick planing and a unique tunnel that houses our inline shaftdrive propulsion system, eliminating pro blematic outdrives and increasing vessel performance and economy. This vessel was designed with beauty and function in mind. The engine and winch apparatus have been neatly tucked under the floor easily accessible through oversize hatches. Take-offs and landings are accomplished inside the vessel next to the Captain so no flight deck or speci al launch platform is necessary.

The Interior
Seating and Captain's Chair

TheStrataSailor The front seating, and Captain's chair have been engineered for maximum comfort and safety. The Captain's chair is ergonomically designed and moves forwards, backwards, up, down and swivels 360 degrees. The steering wheel is a tilt model so the captain can easily move the seat back and stand while driving. Upholstery in the stern and bow are of component construction, and can be replaced in minutes should they become worn or torn.

The Winch The centrally located winch tower occupies just a fraction of the boat's interior floor space. Fliers take off and land inside the boat just behind this column. Furthermore, because our engine and drive-line has been tucked neatly below the floor there is now more useable space inside the boat, allowing customers to land and ride in greate r comfort and safety. An optional transom door not only permits wheel chair access, but also allows easy entry to and from the water for swimmers, snorkelers and scuba divers. The winch tower is the ideal height for pulling water skiers or those big banana floats and, if need be, the diesel engine and hydraulic winch are powerful enough to tow a stranded vessel to safety.

The Winch

The Winch Tower The winch tower is completely round - there are no corners for customers to bang themselves against. The rotating top is all cast and swivels as the chute and boat move in different directions. This reduces line wear, rope fray, and flat spots, as well as excessive line build up on one section of the winch drum.

The Hull
Hull Construction

TheStrataSailor The hull is made up of hand laminated fiberglass with four full length encapsulated stringers. Keel and Chine have been strengthened with end cut encapsulated balsa core. The deck utilizes one-piece inner-liner construction.

The New Removable Transom Door

One of the StrataSailor's new innovative features is a removable transom door.

The Hull

Bottom View
Our Deep V hull has been designed similiar to that of an off shore racer. Along with a higher freeboard, this combination virtually eliminates water splash and allows the StrataSailor to slice through the water without getting passengers wet. The StrataSailor's strakes have been widened to 6 1/2 inches giving the boat the ability to plane almost immediately.

Transporting the StrataSailor

Transporting the StraSailor The StrataSailor can be easily towed by a full-size pick-up truck, and a standard width two-axle trailer.

The Engine and Drive System
The Engine

The Engine Our standard Engine is a hi-revving V-8 turbo charged freshwater diesel. As can be seen by looking at the prop we have done away with the outdrive. We have engineered a small tunnel within our Deep V hull allowing utilization of a shallow inline shaft drive prop similar to competition ski boats. By elimina ting the outdrive we have done away with the biggest maintenance problem associated with winch parasail boats. Note also how the oversize hatches make routine maintenance a breeze.

Shallow Direct Drive Prop

The Prop With only a shaft and prop tucked neatly inside a tunnel beneath the hull, maintenance is easy, and repairs are inexpensive.
