Ash Shaft Steering PaddlesThis laminated fir and mahogany lay-up is available in both the traditional and teardrop styles. The shaft is a five part laminate of ash and douglas fir, and for added strength, the glue joints are perpindicular to the plane of the powerface. These paddles are shaped from one glued-up piece of wood. The shoulder area is slightly raised and gently rounded to aid the steersman's control of the blade when against the canoe's gunnel. This blade "planes" evenly and will not pull away from the canoe. |
