Trumpet Winsock (TCPMan) Setup

This is a basic outline of the preferred setting for Trumpet Winsock (TCPMan). It is
assumed that Trumpet Winsock (TCPMan) has already been installed.

  1. Run Trumpet Winsock (TCPMan) by double-clicking on it (the Trumpet Winsock
    window should open).
  2. Choose File from the menu and go to Setup (Setup is in the File menu option).
  3. This should retrieve a window that has IP Address, Name Server, Domain Suffix, etc...
  4. Make sure the following settings are correct:

IP Address 0.0.0.0 (really doesn't matter - set by WaveNet computer)
Netmask 255.255.255.0 (really doesn't matter - set by WaveNet computer)
Name Server 198.68.31.225 (very important that this is set correctly)
Default Gateway 0.0.0.0 (doesn't matter - set by WaveNet computer)
Time Server BLANK (this field should be left blank)
Domain Suffix wave.net (remember it is case sensitive and to check spelling)
Packet Vector 00 (no need to change from default)

MTU 576
TCP RWIN 2144
TCP MSS 536

More settings to be sure of being correct:

Demand Load Timeout 5 (5 seconds - should also be default)
TCP RTO MAX 60 (default)
Internet SLIP BLANK (should NOT be checked - Xed)
Internal PPP X (the box must be checked - Xed)
SLIP Port 1,2,3 (set to COM port of modem - usually COM 2)
Baud Rate This setting depends on the modem speed.
2400, 4800, 9600, 19200, 38400, 57600, 115200
Hardware Handshake X (the box should be checked - Xed)
Van Jacobsen BLANK (should not be checked - Xed)
Online Status Detection None (choose the None - default)

5)After the proper changes are made the user must press Ok to save the settings.
6)Choose File and go to PPP Options.
7) Fill in the proper Login Name (username) and Password, then press Ok to save the settings.
8) Choose Dialler and go to 1. setup.cmd.
9) Enter the WaveNet dial-in phone number, the Login Name (username), and the Password
(must be EXACTLY as they were entered in the WaveNet computers - Trumpet Winsock (TCPMan)
asks for it to be all lower case - ignore it and enter it exactly as decided with the service provider).
10) Quit (or Exit) Trumpet Winsock (TCPMan) and then restart it.

Everything SHOULD now be all set correctly, but REMEMBER - It depends on the setup of the computer,
installation of the software, etc... There are often some initial problems, but they are usually related to the
settings above being set incorrectly (spelling, missing characters, wrong numbers, etc...).

To log in, go to Dialler and choose Login. The modem should start dialing and making some noises and
soon "Welcome to WaveNet..." should appear as well as login and password prompts. After a few more
moments, there should be a "Password Authenticated" or a "My IP Address is 198.68.31.xxx" phrase that
appears on the screen showing that you are connected to the Internet. At this time, Minimize TCPMan and
you may run your Internet software. To log out, Maximize TCPMan and go to the Dialler and choose Bye.
